Sustainment Lead

Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is seeking an experienced Sustainment Lead to join our team supporting a mission-critical application modernization and sustainment program for a Department of War (DoW) customer.

In this leadership role, you will oversee the ongoing stability, performance, and reliability of a portfolio of production applications while supporting modernization initiatives. You will lead multiple engineering teams, direct Tier 3 sustainment operations, and ensure incidents, defects, patches, and releases are managed effectively to meet customer expectations and established service levels.

• Lead Tier 3 application sustainment operations across a portfolio of mission-critical production applications, ensuring system stability, reliability, and operational continuity.
• Oversee incident and defect management, application patching, production releases, and on-call support operations.
• Provide leadership and direction to multiple engineering squads, coordinating priorities and resources to meet operational requirements.
• Prioritize sustainment activities against established service levels, ensuring application availability meets or exceeds agreed-upon performance targets.
• Maintain operational runbooks, sustainment documentation, and reporting to support consistent service delivery.
• Serve as the primary customer point of contact for day-to-day sustainment operations, providing updates on operational performance, issues, and priorities.
• Ensure sustainment activities follow established change-control processes and operational procedures.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in application sustainment or engineering management supporting Federal production systems that handle sensitive data.
• Demonstrated experience managing Tier 3 sustainment teams across multiple applications in complex production environments.
• Strong understanding of formal change-control processes, incident management, defect resolution, and application release coordination.
• Experience using Jira and ServiceNow for issue tracking and sustainment management.
• Proven ability to lead multiple engineering teams, prioritize competing operational demands, and maintain effective customer relationships.
• Active Secret security clearance; Top Secret clearance preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting applications developed in Java, Go (Golang), and Node.js.

Familiarity with cloud-hosted containerized application environments.

Work Location and Schedule

• Location: Remote
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Eastern.
• Development Cadence: Two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration during each sprint.
• Travel: 0–10%, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
• Security Requirement: U.S. citizenship required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher.
• Compensation: $200,000–$225,000 base salary, depending on experience.
