The goal of NextGen is to create a more flexible and scalable air transportation system, by the year 2025, through use of new technologies and capabilities. The system will be capable of handling new types of aircraft, new industry business models, and the growing demands on capacity expected in the years ahead. In contrast to today’s system, NextGen will be more flexible, resilient, scalable, adaptive, and highly automated – meeting up to two to three times current demand.
