CONCEPTSOLUTIONS WINS $32 MILLION FAA JPDO CONTRACT

Reston-Based Firm will Help Build NextGen System to Meet Future Aviation Demands

Reston, VA - April 9, 2007 - ConceptSolutions (www.Concept-Solutions.com), a fast growing information management and technology consulting company serving commercial, government, and military organizations, announced today it has won a five-year contract worth a potential $32 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) to help build and implement its Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). As the prime contractor, ConceptSolutions will provide JPDO with management consulting, program and transformation management, communications, and general administrative services, as well as develop and implement enhanced technical, operational and management processes.

“On the heels of significant FAA wins in 2006 and our recent DHS/FEMA contract, this is yet another milestone in ConceptSolutions' growth in the government sector,” said John Krahulec, executive vice president and COO, ConceptSolutions. “ConceptSolutions is proud to have been chosen to work with JPDO on this landmark contract, and we look forward to helping the aviation industry take the first major steps towards success in the challenging transition to NextGen.”

Under the contract, which includes one base year and four one-year options, ConceptSolutions will lead a team that includes partners The Clark Group and HMMH. Among its many tasks, the team will support the JPDO efforts to:

  • Plan, develop, deploy, coordinate and implement alternative system integration strategies for the modernization of the Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems; and
  • Integrate environmental, safety, and security priorities and requirements related to the future air transportation operations.

The goal of NextGen is to create a more flexible and scalable air transportation system, by the year 2025, through use of new technologies and capabilities. The system will be capable of handling new types of aircraft, new industry business models, and the growing demands on capacity expected in the years ahead. In contrast to today’s system, NextGen will be more flexible, resilient, scalable, adaptive, and highly automated – meeting up to two to three times current demand. The NextGen includes security, safety, and efficiency of passenger, cargo and aircraft operations.

About JPDO

With enactment of VISION 100 – Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act (P.L.108-176) in 2003, Congress created the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) to plan for and coordinate a transformation from the current air traffic control system to the “next generation air transportation system” (NextGen) by 2025. Housed within FAA, JPDO is a unique public/private partnership managed by the seven partner agencies of the NextGen coalition: the Departments of Transportation, Commerce, Defense, and Homeland Security; FAA; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
